Thanks Kelly – which country are you talking about?
I use Cetaphil for face and body. Anyone know of a full coverage foundation?
Liz earle cleanse and polish contains Limonene which is another MI
Hello Carol, limonene is only an MI figuratively speaking in the sense that both are allergens. There is nothing much in common between them chemically and there is no obvious reason why somebody with an allergy to one should avoid the other.
Hello Collin
I have just been to a dermatologist and he said i am allergic to linolool, and said if i am allergic to this i am more than likely be allergic to all MI so avoid them all
Morning Colin,
I found your page via a search. Having had a severe allergic reaction this weekend to a beauty product containing MI and having done some research, I find I am not alone.
Thank you for the useful information
Thank you for this most enlightening list. I have struggled for years with randomly reacting to a variety of products- sunscreens and shampoos being the biggest problem. A trip to the dermatologist got a recommendation for CeraVe am moisturizer with spf and free and clear shampoo (US). Both are MI free. Nice to finally put a name to the irritant.
Juice Shampoo and Conditioner (Coconut) have helped calm my fingers down a lot.

Hi Shelley,
A little late to respond but I have had great luck with ReMarcable Full Cover Foundation by Marc Jacobs. A little goes a long way, and is long wearing.
Please look into Beautycounter. I discovered the brand through my MI allergy and my skin has never looked better.
Green People UK products are all free from MI as well. They have moisturizers, face cleanser, eye creams, face pressed powder etc.
Ps. Thanks for your page Colin as it very helpful. I am highly allergic to MI plus many other ingredients. I desperately need to find a dish wash liquid available in the UK because my hands have badly broken out from using Fairy Liquid. I didn’t check the ingredients.
Thanks for that Ciera, and a quick reminder to everyone that commercial companies, even ones that profess to be natural like Green People, can and do change their policies on this kind of thing from time to time. For this reason I don’t normally approve blanket recommendations for whole ranges. I happen to that Green People are, at least at the time of writing, quite fastidious about detailing what is in their products so I have let this one go.
I’ve had a really bad reaction to Aveeno daily moisturisering cream…it thought it was safe as it doesn’t contain MI. Is there anything else that is known in it that can cause a reaction? Many thanks
Hello Marie, well anyone can develop an allergy to anything anytime. You might have a problem with anything in the product. But quite a lot of the Aveeno range contain Distearyldimonium Chloride which is one of those materials that does seem to give some people problems. I wouldn’t swear it is necessarily in your particular one though. It is quite a big range.
Hi colin thank god I’ve found your webpage. I’ve just had a bad reaction to Tony & Guy Sea Salt Texturising Spray so assume it must contain MI as I’ve had a patch test and was highly allergic. Didn’t read the ingredients as too SMALL and let my guard down after having a bad reaction to Elemis products two years ago.
Hello Jacqui, if its ingredient list is to be believed – which I would say it is – that product doesn’t contain MI. It’s got plenty of other things in that people often have problems with though. Limonene and linalool for example.
Hi Colin Thanks for this. I had a severe reaction to something and now wondering if it cd be perfume I sprayed poss interacting w sun to reactivate reaction/rosacea! Chanel no5? I tested highly allergic to MI but not to linalool etc
