  1. I just use Diprobase – at present around ÂŁ10 for a large pump dispenser, from the pharmacy areas in the major UK chemist shops.

  2. Before I knew I had this allergy, I thought I was allergic to fragrances. So fragrance-free is something I have looked for for a long time. It is also a good way to begin a search for MI free lotions, but not a guarantee.
    I am in the US.
Curél Daily Moisture is MI free
Also, Pro-foot’s Heel Rescue. It is designed for tough foot moisturizing, but works on any rough skin.

  3. Amanda Kochanek

    US
Cera Ve has really good sun screens

I was told the safest moisturizer was to use pure petroleum jelly (no scent) for face I often use Aquaphor.

  4. Here in the dry western US, I tried and am using Trilipiderm All-Body Moisture Retention Creme, which is free of Methylisothiazolinone (Ml). I discovered my allergy to Ml last year and love using this product, albeit a bit expensive, that is marketed by its doctor-developers from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where it’s dry and the sun strong. They also make Broad Spectrum SPF 30 with Vitamin D.

  5. Denise Berthiaume

I’m using Vanicream (“Lite Lotion” and “Moisturizing Skin Cream”), all MI-free. I’m in the US.
    Thanks for the blog, Colin!

  6. Aveeno body lotions, aqueous cream, Weleda skin food, body shop hemp creams, or a plain almond oil with lavender oil mixed in xx

    1. Bonnie, the decision on which preservative to use is generally made by the scientists in the lab. They choose them for a variety of reasons – the reason that MI gets picked a lot is that it works well and causes a fairly low level of reactions. It is rare for companies to have policies on this kind of thing. Even when they do, they tend to get changed quite quickly.

  7. Cetephil Moisturizing Lotion is MI free and works well. It is fragrance free, light and moisturizers well. My daughter who is allergic to MI does really well with it. MaMa too! ??

  8. Hi, I have had M1 now for around 7 years … best sun lotion which I have been using for 3 years now is Caribbean Blue and as I am unable to put regular lotion on my husband’s back he too now uses the same product as me .
