Automatic Nail Trimmer

Automatic Nail TrimmerI get quite a few e-mails from people wanting me to promote their stuff on this blog. Most of them I politely decline. I don’t mind helping people, but I don’t want to clutter up my output with plugs for stuff of dubious relevance. So my rule is to say no unless it is something that is particularly interesting.

Well I got something today which at least is novel. Some inventors are trying to get together the cash to develop and launch an automatic nail trimmer which disposes of the shavings.  When I say novel, this isn’t entirely new. I have seen things like this floating around before at trade shows and the like. You can also get automated nail files, which are sort of similar.  But I don’t think anyone has ever aimed to come up with a mass market device for home use that does quite what this does.  (Having said that, there aren’t many ideas in the beauty business that haven’t been tried by somebody somewhere.  But I haven’t seen anything quite like this myself.)

So basically the idea is a bit like a pencil sharpener for your fingers.

I am not sure how it well it would work. I haven’t been able to give it a try because it isn’t at that stage yet. One of the problems with humans is that they come in all different sizes and shapes, so the design will have to cope with quite a wide range of nail sizes. But the idea of being able to keep your nails in good shape without scissors or nail files is certainly an appealing one.

If you want to help fund it, the pitch is below.

Disclaimer – I don’t know the people behind this personally and can’t vouch for them.  I am not investing in the project myself and don’t stand to gain from the project in any way.

3/2/17 At time of writing this project seems to have attracted no backers on Indeigogo, so if you are looking forward to giving this product a try it looks like you might have a long wait.
