I did this video to illustrate the principle behind optical blurring products.
Basically the trick is to match the refractive index of your product to that of the skin. This means that light travels through at the same speed.this reduces the impact it makes on your eyes.
I actually explored this before on my blog post about Nanoblur, back in the days when it was still a new idea.
